Exploring Quality in Family Child Care

This professional learning series supports a deeper understanding of the Satellite Accreditation Standards. In these one-hour monthly events at naptime, you will learn the evidence-based rationale behind a high-quality standard and discover ideas for practical implementation in your program.

Process Art

Process art, also known as open-ended art, is art that emphasizes the material, technique, and experience of art creation rather than the finished product. In this session, we define process-based art, explore the importance of process art, and discuss strategies for offering process art opportunities in family child care.

Building Empathy by Talking About Differences

Young children organically notice similarities and differences in physical characteristics, abilities, behaviors, language, identities, and beliefs among people. Licensed clinical social worker Janna Hack will explore how adults support children’s perception of diversity as something to celebrate and as a normal, natural part of life. Participants will learn strategies for incorporating activities, materials, and conversations into a mixed-age environment in response to children’s curiosity and to encourage an inclusive program.

Safety Saturday

Safety Saturday is a full day of free health and safety training offered annually to early childhood educators affiliated with Satellite. The in-person event will include Pediatric First Aid CPR AED, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Abuse Head Trauma, and Child Abuse and Neglect training. View more details in our conference program.
